Testimonials
Creative
Uses of Music in the Classroom
“I
have to say that
this class, Creative Uses of Music in the Classroom, is the most
important breakthrough that I have ever had with music. To begin with I
would have never taken this class if it had not been recommended that I
take it to fulfill admission requirements for the teacher certification
program. The idea of taking a class that had to do with music making
and singing scared me. I felt that to take this class, I had to have a
knowledge of music. I have realized from the first class that this is
not the case. It was such a positive experience for me and since then I
have been thinking of how to bring music into my life and into the
lives of those around me. I am very glad that I needed to take this
class, for the experience it has given me and what is possible in the
future because of it.”
“It is excellent! I did not anticipate it would be so
great”
Introduction to
Music Therapy
“The
instructor is inspirational in her dedication and creativity as a music
therapist, I can tell. She told several interesting and inspirational
stories.”
“I would like to incorporate Ms. Dunn’s caring and
inclusive manner into all my teaching. She made a special effort to
notice each individual present and address them individually. This
applied to everyone, even the young children and parents who came in
late. She made them feel welcome immediately and stopped what she was
doing to make sure they had seats in the circle.”
“Barbara is like sunshine!
“Barbara could make
watching grass growing interesting!”
“Excellent presenter, lots
of feeling – very helpful”
Music Therapy Forum –
University of Washington
Thank you for your
presentation at our music therapy forum. You gave us many practical
ideas through your stories and the musical experiences you shared with
us. Students were quite taken by you, your songs, your knowledge of the
field.”

“Your session
got rave reviews from participants! The word spread from the morning
session as you observed, and we had to find you an even larger room! If
that’s not a sign of success, we don’t know what
would be a
good indicator!”

Letters from Ms. McCue’s
sixth grade classes, Langley Middle School
“I liked all the
instrument and your
singing, that was incredible! I hope you can come again. It was really
fun, especially when Mrs. McCue was laughing and crying at the same
time! I really had a lot of fun.” Danielle
“Thanks for the exciting
and fun lesson on
Friday, the 23rd. I had so much fun. I liked the funny and unique
version of our songs. You are a great guitar player.”
Lisa F.
“I loved playing the
guitar and making a
song with my table-group, then playing it in front of the class. At
first I was scared and nervous, then once a couple of groups went, I
wasn’t scared anymore. It was so much fun. I hope you come
again
sometime.”
Katie K.
“I loved singing my song
in front of the
class. That was really fun. When it was my turn to sing, I felt really
nervous, at first, but then I got the beat and was having a blast.
Thank you very much for everything.” Kas
“Fabulous performance!
It’s so nice
of you to take your time to teach four different classes! I bet you lit
up a lot of minds that day.” Josette S.
“Thank you for coming in
and spending your
precious time to do music for a bunch of wild kids. I hope you had
fun!”
